Volcán started in a small fábrica in Honduras, a short drive from the Nicaraguan border — two countries that between them grow some of the world's finest premium tobacco. Our founders had spent fifteen years rolling tobacco for brands that sold their cigars in the United States for four times what the factory was paid.
We thought: what if the people growing and rolling the cigars could also be the people selling them? Not through five layers of distribution. Just one shipment, from our fábrica to your door.

Ten blends, built around three phases of a palate
We don't roll a new recipe for every customer. We spent years narrowing the line to ten blends that cover the whole flavor spectrum, then built a concierge process that points you at the two or three that actually fit.
Mild & creamy
Shade-grown wrappers over gentle seco and viso leaf. Cream, almond, toasted hay. Where most palates should start, and where plenty happily stay.
Medium, sweet & woody
Cameroon, Sumatra and Habano wrappers. Cocoa, toffee, cedar and baking spice — the widest part of the collection and the most food-friendly.
Full, dark & earthy
Corojo, Criollo, Broadleaf and San Andrés over ligero-heavy cores. Espresso, leather, dried fruit, smoked oak. Earned, not started with.
Long-leaf, hand-bunched, entubado
Every Volcán cigar is long-filler — whole leaves, folded by hand in the entubado style so air travels straight down the cigar rather than fighting through chopped scrap. It is slower, it wastes more leaf, and it is the difference between a cigar that draws evenly for an hour and one that tunnels in twenty minutes.
Filler comes from volcanic growing regions in Honduras and Nicaragua. Wrapper leaf is sourced where the blend demands it — Ecuador for shade-grown Connecticut and Sumatra, Cameroon for its sweet spice, Mexico's San Andrés valley and Connecticut's own Broadleaf for our maduros.
Bales are fermented and then rested in the aging room; nothing ships the week it is rolled. Our limited releases rest for years before they leave.
Every cigar is drawn-tested
Each cigar is weighed and draw-tested before it goes in the box. Anything outside tolerance goes back to the roller — it never becomes a "seconds" bundle sold under a different name, because there is no second brand to hide it behind.
Boxes are packed in cedar and shipped in humidity-controlled mailers with a two-way pack. If a shipment arrives out of condition, we replace it.
